Kashgar Transportation
|
|
| Railway Station | Kashgar is the terminal point of the South Xinjiang Railway. There are two trains that travel between Kashgar and Urumqi and along the rail line are some popular tourist cities including Turpan and Korla.
Although train travel is convenient and relatively cheap, it is time consuming and the conditions of trains running on that route are generally inferior to those on the main routes. |
| Train/ Coach | Kashgar has a comprehensive highway network with highways spreading over to the neighboring cities, towns, and beyond. The highway stretches northeastward along Aksu, Kuqa, Korla, and Turpan to Urumqi. Buses frequently travel on the Kashgar to Urumqi highway. A bus trip from Kashgar to Urumqi takes around 28 hours. There are also buses between Kashgar and Dunhuang in Gnasu province and Golmud, the starting point of the Qinghai-Tibet railway. |
| Long Distance Bus Station | Beijing Capital International Airport is located in northeast of Beijing, capital of People’s Republic of China, and 25.35km from the Tian’anmen Square, center of Beijing city. It is not only an aviation gateway of Beijing and a window for international communication, but also a radial center for China civil aviation network, featured in a large-scale international airport, with most important location, biggest scale, fullest facilities and busiest transportation in China |
| Tips |
Except in Kashgar, the regular run number of buses or flights is limited. You can rent automobiles or ask passing drivers for a drive but you should be careful in the later case. If going to Tash Kurghan and Hongqilapu Port, please get the introduction letter from your unit in advance (if without it forward, ask local travel agency to provide it which will cost ten yuan) and meanwhile you should handle border defense certificate in local police station on Seman Road in Kashi (having arrived at Tash Kurghan you need to handle another a frontier passing certificate to enter this place) |
| Air | Planes fly between Kashi and Urumqi every day. During peak tourist season another 4 flights will be added weekly aiming to provide maximum convenience for tourists. |
